Tournament Format:

Please familiarize yourself with the tournament format posted on the CanAm website - http://nafacanam.com/tourneyformat.html. There are some specific CanAm racing formats that will apply at this tournament that are not the same at most regular tournaments.

Warm-up times will be 2 minutes unless changed.

Ring Assignment Information:

There will be several large monitors in the building showing which races are currently racing, on deck, and in the hole, for each ring. Thanks to http://www.flyballgeek.com and Jeremy Meeler for helping with the delivery of this information!

The links to this year's racing schedules are:

Friday - http://flyballgeek.com/r/3
Saturday - http://flyballgeek.com/r/4
Sunday - http://flyballgeek.com/r/91

In addition to viewing the ring assignments on one of the large monitors, this app allows ring assignments to also be viewed on your web enabled devices (e.g. Laptop, smart phone, netbook, tablet). Direct your browser to http://www.flyballgeek.com and click on the CanAm Classic for ring assignments and the schedule.

These web pages are automatically refreshed frequently. Due to this fact, please be aware your devices' power can be spent relatively quickly, so you may want to bring a power source and/or recharger. Please stay tuned to these pages also, for any important messages broadcast. You can verify the time of the last update via the time stamp at the bottom of the page.

Heat Counters:

Each red light represents a heat won by the right lane, and each green light represents a heat won by the left lane. A yellow light indicates a tie. Bright white lights tell you how many heats are definitely left in the current race, while dim white lights indicate potential additional heats. At the end of each race, the lights will blink to indicate a winner (red for right lane, green for left lane).

Flyball Boxes & Equipment:

There are fenced off areas behind the backstops for flyball boxes/balls/jump boards. Please only keep the boxes and equipment you are actually using in these areas.

When bringing in boxes, please place flat on the ground, not on dollies or sideways. This will allow the judges easier access and make box checking easier.

After box inspection by judges, please relocate your spares out of the main box alley. They will still be near the lanes should you need them but not taking up valuable space. The area immediately behind each backstop is the "on-deck staging area". This area is for teams that are actually presently on-deck! Please observe all taped-off areas and walkways for the convenience and safety of all.

Racing Format:

All racing will be 3 of 5.

Scoring:

Round Robin:
• 2 points awarded to the team winning the most heats in the race.
• 1 point awarded to each team if at the end of the race the heat score is 1-1 or 2-2.
o Division ties will be resolved as follows:
Head-to-head racing (win/loss);
then fastest (non-breakout) time of the day,
then fastest (non-breakout) time during the head-to-head race(s).
* Single Elimination: The team that wins the most heats out of five shall be declared the race winner and advance in the bracket. If, after five heats, the race is tied, the winner will be declared by comparing fastest times run in that race, and then by comparing fastest times run that day. If a tie exists due to neither team having completed a heat, then neither team will advance.
* Any breakout will exclude a team from divisional placement.

Conflicts:

Clubs that have short breaks (e.g. fewer than 5 races on Friday or 10 races on Saturday/Sunday) between different (same club) teams racing MUST SEND A "RUNNER" to inform the head table/judge in the ring in which you are due to race, of a conflict before the warmup begins!

This will allow your conflict to be excused and the ring will wait for you. Failure to inform the head table/judge for the ring in which you are due, in a timely manner, will result in the warmup beginning without you and your team being on the clock for potential forfeiture.

Additionally, please "do the right thing", and inform your opponent that a conflict exists so they are aware of the delay, and can prepare accordingly.

We are counting on the good judgement and sportsmanship of our larger clubs to help the racing to move as quickly, smoothly, and efficiently as possible.

If the "excused ring conflict" policy/process does not work as hoped, we will return to team number limits for excused conflicts.

Handler/dog/boxloader/pass-caller issues involving Open teams from a different club are not excused conflicts. If you know there is a conflict, please arrange alternate personnel.

Vendors and Sponsors:

Please take time to visit the booths of our sponsors and vendors. They help make this event possible. Even if you aren't in the market for something, stop by and say thanks for coming.

Security:

Please put all valuables in a secure location as the building is open to the public. During tear down on Sunday remember that if clubs around your area remove all their crates what you thought might have been a good hiding place may no longer be secure.

Additional security has been hired to watch the designated parking area during the day. We encourage all competitors to wear the green NAFA® provided wristband to easily identify themselves as CanAm participants.

When racing in the Coliseum, there will be additional security to monitor the West Pavilion so competitors can watch the racing next door.

Parking:

* $10.00/day. There are no in/out privileges. If you leave the Fairgrounds you will have to pay again when you reenter.

* Designated parking for CanAm participants is in the lot that is across from the NW corner of the West Pavilion or along the far West curb of State Fair Blvd. THIS IS THE ONLY PARKING AREA THAT WILL BE PATROLLED BY NAFA HIRED SECURITY.
